| High-temperature steam service is one of the most demanding environments in industrial processing. Thermal cycling, flange movement, and elevated pressures can quickly compromise standard gasket materials. Reinforced graphite gaskets are engineered for these conditions. Graphite offers excellent thermal stability, compressibility, and resistance to creep relaxation — making it ideal for refinery steam lines, heat exchangers, and high-temperature chemical service. When paired with stainless steel tanged or wire mesh reinforcement, graphite gaskets maintain structural integrity while delivering a reliable seal under fluctuating loads Grafoil is chemically inert (pH 0-14, excluding strong oxidizers), self-lubricating, and offers excellent thermal conductivity. It can handle temperatures up to 850°F and up to 5400°F in a vacuum. Grafoil is commonly used when non-asbestos gaskets can not hold up in extreme thermal environments. |

It is used as a high-performance alternative to graphite, PTFE, and asbestos because it maintains integrity in critical services where oxidation or aggressive chemicals are present.
